HAZARDOUS AREA EX INSPECTIONS
Hazardous Area Inspection Types
There are 2 types of Hazardous Area Inspections:
1. Initial Inspections
To ensure the correct type of protection is appropriate for the hazardous area installation, an initial inspection is required.
2. Periodic Inspections
Periodic inspections need to be carried out as part of the overall maintenance and will apply to existing installations. The periodic inspection will identify any change and/or deterioration and should not exceed 3 years.
Grades of Hazardous Area Inspections:
There are three grades of Hazardous Area Inspections:
1. Visual Hazardous Area Inspections
Visual hazardous area inspections identify without using tools and access equipment. They rely on the eye to identify and issues such as missing bolts and so on.
2. Close Hazardous Area Inspections
Close hazardous area inspections encompasses those aspects covered by a visual inspection, and in addition, identifies those defects (such as loose bolts), which will become apparent only when access equipment is used. Close inspections do not normally require the enclosure to be opened, or the equipment to be isolated.
3. Detailed Hazardous Area Inspections
A detailed hazardous area inspection will encompass those aspects covered by a close inspection and, in addition, identify those defects, such as loose terminations, which only become obvious when an enclosure is opened or using where necessary, tools and test equipment.

What Our CLients Say
Ben Brayford | Geo Oceans
We crossed paths with Ex Electrical a few years ago. We have continued to use their services as we find their knowledge of the offshore industry exceptional.
Graeme Curuickshank | Baker Hughes
EX Electrical & Engineering have been a great company to work with. We have found their 24/7 support reliable and to provide great piece of mind. They have supported our Buru and Santos campaigns, as well as being our third party electrical company working with Arrow Energy.
Angela Boyle | Airpac Bukom
At Airpac we have used the services of EX Electrical for a few years now. EX have carried out electrical maintenance and calibration of our gas monitors. We have, without exception, found their staff to be pleasant, professional and their work to be of high quality. We would recommend Ex Electricals services.
Owen Hetherington | TMT
EX Electricals air conditioning services have provided services ranging from servicing to full installations on board the ENSCO 5006. Their servicing helped extend the life of our exiting system, prior to their installation of a full new air conditioning system within our ROV shack. Excellent work which can’t be faulted.
Courtney Gridwood | MI Swaco
Ex Electrical came highly recommended by a colleague. I engaged them to carry out an overhaul of our only cross flow mud filtration system. I couldn’t fault the continuous support from the city based commissioning, to the installation in Dampier.
